So, you can imagine my delight (read: sarcasm) when The Way You Make Me Feel opened with two girls fighting! And in the same chapter, Clara declaring that she’s best friends with two boys because they’re drama-free. The other I want to highlight is the I’m-not-like-other-girls trope. I was a little hesitant about picking up another Maurene Goo book because I did not love I Believe in a Thing Called Love for so many reasons with one of them being the non-stop girl-on-girl hate. And let’s be honest, I’d date the damn hell out of Hamlet Wong. If you ever need a simple, fluffy and heartwarming story about family, friendship and summer, The Way You Make Me Feel needs go to on the top of your list.
